The Care Group has been in operation in the Horndean Parish area since 1979 and, during that time, well over 200 volunteers have ‘passed through their hands’ and they have undertaken thousands of tasks on behalf of the residents of Horndean, Blendworth, Catherington and Lovedean.

The Group endeavours to assist with transport door-to-door to hospitals, GP surgeries, dentists, opticians, shopping trips etc. so, if you have difficulty in travelling to your appointment, please give the Group a call on 07528 331989 with, if possible, at least 48 hours notice. The Group will ask for a donation to cover their expenses.

However, if you are lucky enough to have your own means of transport and feel able to assist the Group, give them a call – drivers can be reimbursed with a mileage allowance. Similarly, you could become a volunteer by taking incoming telephone calls in your own home from those residents requiring assistance. All volunteers will be required to undertake a DBS (formerly CRB) check free of cost.

We are one of more than 110 similar groups in Hampshire, who are supported by the Good Neighbours Network, which is funded by the Diocese of Portsmouth, Winchester and Guildford; Hampshire County Council; and Hampshire’s NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups.
